Arriving by foot

Many of our central facilities are accessible by foot. It is best to research the location of the individual facility to determine whether you will be able to walk there.

Arriving by bike

Derby is easily accessible from the National Cycle Network. The riverside pathway, National Cycle Route 6, provides a traffic free way of getting you close to the city centre and some of our out-of-town facilities too. Arriving by car

Derby is in the East Midlands and is easily accessible by car from all directions due to it's central location. The city is around 15 minutes away from the M1 junction 24 ro 25 and you can also access Derby from the A6, A50, A38 and A52.

The city centre is signposted on all major road routes. Enter Derby into your SatNav for directions to Derby city centre. You can find the addresses of individual facilities on our facilities pages.

Arriving by bus

Derby is well connected by bus, and the bus station is just a 4 minute walk away from the city centre. Coaches run from across the UK to Derby, and local bus services are great for reaching other areas of the city and surrounding areas.

Arriving by train

Derby is well connected by train, and the train station is around 15 minutes away from the city centre by foot, although there is a taxi rank and bus stop outside the train station too. A taxi ride to the city centre would take around 4 minutes. 

Direct rail services connect Derby with London St Pancras (from 93 minutes), Birmingham, Bournemouth, Bristol, Cardiff, Dundee, Edinburgh, Leeds, Leicester, Newcastle, Nottingham, Oxford, Sheffield, Southampton, Plymouth and many other destinations.

Arriving by air

East Midlands Airport is situation about a 30 minute drive away from Derby city centre. It is well connected to Derby via bus.

Birmingham Airport is around 50 minutes away by car, or you can travel by train.

Both airports provide extensive air links to most European and worldwide destinations.
