Last Monday Derby City Council announced proposals for Derby’s new swimming pool complex.

Over the last year the project team have been working alongside internationally renowned experts to help develop a modern and exciting facility for Derby.

The Council would like your feedback on the designs for the new swimming complex as part of our public engagement exercise which ends on Sunday 8 October.

Councillor Shanker, Cabinet Member for Finance and Governance said:

“We have already had lots of fantastic constructive feedback on the proposals for the new swimming pool complex. I encourage anyone who hasn’t yet taken part to do so, we want to listen to people of Derby and deliver the best possible facility.”

Proposals include a ten-lane, 50 metre swimming pool; leisure water for families and a learner pool. Alongside these water spaces, there are a range of additional features included in the proposals.

Derby City Council believes building a new swimming pool complex will give Derby a stronger future, so it can continue to be a great place, to live, work and visit. The complex would provide communities with water space for learners clubs, events and casual swimmers.

The new swimming pool complex is one of the Council’s key pledges; site survey work took place earlier in the year with demolition set to be complete by the end of the year. The new swimming pool complex is expected to open in 2020.
