New extended pool programme at Queen's Leisure Centre

Mon 19 Jun 2017

Queen's Leisure Centre will be offering a new extended pool programme from the 1 July.

The new programme includes dedicated women only swim times and additional aqua aerobic sessions. Public swim sessions will be extended, with additional lane swimming sessions taking place on selected evenings.

During the school summer holidays there will be a programme that caters for all ages and abilities in the water, with fitness, fun, lessons, family splash or a bit of chill out time. As part of the changes local performance swim clubs and recreational clubs will have more pool time.

Cllr Amo Raju, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Culture and Tourism, said:

“We are focussed on improving swimming for people in Derby. This extension to the pool programme at Queens Leisure Centre is helping to make leisure swimming time more accessible to the people of Derby. Swimming is fun way to get fit for kids and adults alike and we are pleased to be able offer communities additional swimming time, new activities and sessions.”

Cllr Baggy Shanker, said

“Progress continues to be made on a new swimming pool complex on the Moorways site and we have a new improved pool programme that utilises all the pools at Queen’s. The new programme is certainly a step forward and we will continue to improve swimming in Derby in the years to come.”
