The Jenson Button Trust Triathlon took place in Derby this weekend for the third time, with hundreds of people flocking to the city to take part. The charity event was held at Markeaton Park and attracted a number of elite, experienced and novice athletes, all eager to take part.

The day began with a preliminary qualifying round, in which athletes completed a 200m swim, 10km bike ride and 2.5km run. The best athletes then took part in the final stage, which involved a similar set of tasks covering twice the distance.

During the triathlon, athletes took in the city with a swim through Markeaton Lake, a bike ride to Derby’s Cathedral Quarter, and then a run back around the park.

Cllr Rawson said “What a great event it’s been today and what an honour and privilege it is to host the Jenson Button Trust Triathlon. It has been a fantastic day.”

The fastest male was Ben Dijkstra and the fastest female was Emma Pallant.
