Keeping you active at home

Derby Active Together

Wed 25 Mar 2020

In these uncertain times, we want to let you know although our leisure centre doors have closed, Derby Active is still here to help you be active in your own home.

We are introducing our Active Derby Together free health and wellbeing information service.

Each week we will provide new home workouts with your Derby Active class instructors, offer information from our Wellbeing Advisors on nutrition and home exercise and share information with you from our fitness industry partners.

So we're still here for you!

Don’t forget to share your workout or activity with us on your centres Facebook, Twitter or Instagram page, we can’t wait to see you. #DerbyActive

Keep moving with us!

Here's Andy, our Health and Wellbeing Advisor from Springwood Leisure Centre, with your first Derby Active Together workout. Have a go, lets us have your feedback and share with friends and family.

Lets see if we can get Derby Active together from home!

Eat well

It is important that we follow a balanced diet to ensure that we consume the right nutrients in the correct balance, one of the easiest ways to ensure that you meet your nutritional needs is by following The eatwell guide.

Eatwell Guide

This is a visual reputation of the proportion of each food that we should be consumed in a well-balanced and healthy diet.

It is based on the following food groups:

  • Fruit and vegetables
  • Bread, rice, potatoes and pasta
  • Meat, fish, eggs pulses and beans
  • Dairy foods and alternatives
  • Oils and spreads

You need to try and achieve this over a course of a day or even a week as it is sometimes difficult to do this in one meal.

Over the next few days we will explain each food group further.

Caring for your Wellbeing
