We've Extended the Winter Mini Reading Challenge!
Wed 19 Jan 2022
The Reading Agency are so pleased to see so many young readers getting involved in the Winter Mini Challenge that they have decided to extend the challenge until 20th February 2022. Children are back at school for the new year and we want to encourage as many as possible to keep reading for pleasure. For information on the challenge and how you can get involved, please read below.
The Reading Agency is teaming up with WWF UK for the Wild World Heroes Winter Mini Challenge! Join the Wild World Heroes as they embark on an Arctic adventure to find out about the creatures that live there. Find out about the environmental issues facing this precious, remote place and even spot a narwhal or two. The challenge was launched on 1st December 2021 and ends on 20th February 2022.
The Winter Mini Challenge encourages children to keep up their reading habits over the winter, with a free-to-access website featuring rewards for reading and reviewing books. To take part in the Winter Mini Challenge, children simply read three or more books – these can be any books of their choice. Every time they finish a book, they add it to their Challenge website profile and leave a short book review. Reaching their online reading goal will unlock a limited-edition virtual badge and a special Winter Mini Challenge certificate to print off and keep!
We are also supporting the Winter Mini Challenge with Arctic themed displays in all our libraries in Derby to encourage children to get involved and read their 3 books, so why not come and visit us!

There is also a Facebook page so that parents can keep up to date with news and opportunities. We also hold online events like draw-alongs and story-time sessions as well as competitions for book bundles and more!
