Adult Reading Project


Would you like some help with your reading and writing?

If you do, we run a group for adults who need basic level help with reading and writing.  It’s called the Reading Project.

When does the Reading Project meet?

Every Wednesday at the Riverside Library from 1pm to 3pm (excluding Bank Holiday weeks)

Every Thursday at the Riverside Library from 11am – 1pm (excluding Bank Holiday weeks). Please note this group will move to Normanton Library when it opens later in 2019)

What support is available?

  • Help and encouragement with basic reading, writing and conversational skills

  • A choice of books to borrow that support learning and encourage reading for pleasure

How are the sessions run?

The sessions are run by library staff and volunteers. No assessments are required. The group is friendly and informal and all sessions are drop in.

What do you need to do?

  • Just turn up – there's no need to book.
  • Bring your library card with you as you will be expected to borrow at least two books each time you attend the group. If you are not already a library member you can join on the day.  Please bring with you some identification with your name and address on it.
