eLibrary - eBook, eAudiobook and eMagazine loans

E-library service

We offer an eLibrary service  to all members of Derby Libraries.

What is available?

  • eBooks - digital books that you can view on your computer or mobile reading device.
  • eAudiobooks - spoken word recordings that can be played on your computer or mobile device

You can also access eBooks and eAudiobooks from our library catalogue

Before you download an eBook from our catalogue we recommend that you download and install the BorrowBox App.

We recommended you visit the help page which offers guidance on getting started, what devices and apps are compatible and general information on eBooks and Audiobooks.

You can download latest editions of your favourite magazine to the Libby App. You must be aged 18 and over to access the eMagazine service. There are no limitations to the number of titles you can download and you can keep them on your device until you decide to delete them.

You can use the Libby App or libbyapp.com, OR you can use the original OverDrive app or the Overdrive website instead. These alternatives have the same titles as Libby, but offer slightly different features and device compatibility.

You will need to log in with your library card number and PIN to access these titles.

What is Libby?

Libby is a free, award-winning app where you can borrow and enjoy digital content from your public library.

How many magazines will I be able to borrow in Libby?

In Libby, you'll have access to over 3,000 digital magazines with a rolling 3 years of back issues (where available). There are no magazine checkout limits, so you'll be able to borrow as many as you like.

How long can I keep magazines borrowed through Libby?

Borrowed magazines will expire at the end of their lending periods, but you'll be able to renew them if you need more time to read.

What will happen to old issues of magazines and comics that I borrowed through RBdigital?

After our magazines move to Libby, you'll still be able to access any older issues you borrowed through RBdigital by visiting the ZINIO app or website and registering a new ZINIO account using the same email address you used with RBdigital.
