If you are interested in running then our parks are the perfect place to be with a selection of running opportunities taking place on our parks on a weekly basis.
Parkrun
What is Parkrun?
Parkrun is a free weekly timed run over a measured 5k route.
When is it?
The Parkrun takes place every Saturday at 9am to 10am.
Where is it?
The Parkrun takes place at Markeaton Park.
Who is Parkrun suitable for?
Parkrun is open to all people who wish to run or walk the course. Children under the age of 11 must be accompanied by an adult. This is a free event so just turn up and have a good time!
Junior Parkrun
What is Markeaton Junior Parkrun?
It is a 2k run for juniors only (4-14 year olds).
When is it?
It is held every Sunday at 9:00am.
Where is it?
The event takes place in Markeaton Park, Derby.
What does it cost to join in?
Nothing - it's free! but please register before your first run. Only ever register with parkrun once. Don't forget to bring a printed copy of your barcode (request a reminder).
How fast do I have to be?
The aim is to have fun. Please come along and join in whatever your pace!

Chesapeake Road Runners
What is it?
Chesapeake is an active friendly running club, with many members, meeting twice a week. New runners often have worries and doubts about taking the step of joining a running club This is very common and completely understandable. As a club we are sure you won’t regret joining us, whether you want to get fit as a New Year's resolution or you want to train for a specific race such as a charity run, whatever your running objectives, there is a place for you with us. When is it?
Sessions take place on a weekly basis on Tuesday and Thursday evenings between the hours of 7pm and 8pm.
Where is it?
Chaddesden Park, meeting at the Pavilion.
What does it cost to join in?
Chesapeake Road Runners Derby offers your first four sessions completely free and if you decide it's not for you at that time, then that’s fine, you could always come back at a later point and commit by paying the modest annual membership fee of £21 per year. £14 of that will be your England Athletics Athlete affiliation fee.
Who is suitable for?
We aim to cater for all standards of runner from the novice upwards. We welcome new members aged 14 and older.
British Military Fitness
British Military Fitness is an outdoor fitness class designed to encourage and promote fitness through a challenging effect work out with team games, paired exercises, circuits,strength workout and running classes.
These are all split into ability groups so there is something for everyone regardless of ability.

Buggybabes
Buggybabes is the ultimate fitness class for Derby mums. Casses are social, fun and will give you the chance to meet other new mums. Suitable for all levels of fitness, BuggyBabes is the perfect way to help you adjust to the physical demands of looking after a new baby.
Classes combine cardio (fat burning) and strength training (toning) elements. They involve lots of pushing to burn the calories and banish the baby weight interspersed with resistance exercises to tone the upper and lower body.
Where is it?
Sessions take place at Darley Park, meeting outside the Tearooms.
When is it?
Sessions take place on Mondays at 2pm - 3pm and Thursdays at 10.30am - 11.30am.
How much is it?

GoodGym

Derby Arena Run Hub
We are inviting clubs to be part of our hub, where you can organise club runs from Derby’s iconic Arena. We offer free parking, changing rooms, lockers and a social café, a great way to start and finish any run.
There is no charge to be part of the hub and our aim is to support running clubs by offering a base with great facilities.
We are excited to be able to offer all Run Hub members the corporate discounted membership at the Arena. This gives full access to the gym and all group fitness classes. See the full terms and conditions.
New members must show they are apart of a run group to get access to the discount. Derby Arena members also have access to the brand new 'Your Plan +' sessions. These include 1-2-1 coaching, training plans, nutrition advice and body analysis.

Strength and Conditioning for Runners
Alongside the membership, all runners can book in for our brand new ‘Strength and Conditioning for Runners’ sessions with the gym team. These sessions focus on the importance of strength training for running and sport specific exercises to enhance running techniques, helping to reduce the risk of injury.
