Grazing Comes to Town comes to an end after another successful season

Sheep grazing

Mon 26 Feb 2018

Our parks conservation grazing project will soon be finishing for the season. The cows have all gone back to their home at Woodside Farm, near Shipley and there are around 70 sheep grazing the last areas of Allestree Park.

We're thankful for DerwentWISE, the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, and their volunteer farming team who have been key to ensuring the success of the project. The volunteer stock check rotas were fully subscribed this year which leads us on to say a huge thank you to all involved and for the impact you've had on our parks!

This grazing project will enhance the habitats across the parks, creating wild flower rich grassland.

Don’t forget to visit our fantastic nature reserves at Allestree Park, Darley and Nutwood, and Sinfin Moor Park to see first-hand the meadow restoration progress.
