A variety of clubs regularly meet at Derby's leisure facilities - find out what's on where below.
During the dark winter nights from October to the end of March, the Shelton Striders Wednesday training takes place under the floodlights at Moorways’ Stadium. If you are new to Shelton Striders or this is your first time visiting the track can you identify yourself to one of the coaches prior to 6pm.
These sessions are 5km timed runs, you can track your time and see your progress through Parkrun UK's website.
Run Jump Throw clubs are designed for children to participate in athletics activity all year round, providing an opportunity to take part in fun competitions throughout the summer and winter seasons.
It's fun for Year 5 to 8 children, and is great for running, jumping and throwing skill development.
Derbyshire Performance offer junior coached sessions at Derby Arena for under 18s of all abilities, including beginners, who would like coaching to improve and develop their skills. Initial two hour taster sessions are free – we then have a club membership system for those interested in joining. Coaching is provided by qualified L2 and L3 coaches. These sessions offer a first class junior pathway for young players to get into Badminton.
The sessions are run under the auspices of the Derbyshire Badminton Performance Centre and Badminton England.
DOSportUK is a company specialising in Disability Sport and Physical Activity. They work with groups and organisations offering a wide range of services, ranging from coaching sessions and school lessons, to simple support and guidance. DOSportUK are currently offering a weekly basketball session for people with a learning disability at The Derby Arena. All ages and abilities welcome!
Indoor Long Bowls sessions currently run throughout the autumn/winter periods. Booking can be taken on any day of the year, if you are interested then please please get in touch with the team at the Arena.
Sessions are open to all levels - if you have no previous experience, no problem... beginners are always welcome! Classes consist of both male and female students and are a mixed age range.
Wushu is the contemporary term for Chinese Martial Arts. In present times, it has thrived as an exciting and athletic sport and is currently under consideration for inclusion into the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
The Derby Wushu Club is amongst the highest ranking Wushu clubs in the country and is home to two members of the Great Britain Wushu Team whom are Sam Mak who has starred in The World’s End with Simon Pegg, and Steve Coleman who featured in the film Fury.
Mercia Martial Arts runs classes for 3-5 years, 6-11 years, adult classes and family classes.
Chief Instructor David Sims is a 3rd degree black belt who has over 23 years of experience. He has competed at an international level in ITF Taekwondo as well as professional and amateur full contact kickboxing, boxing and MMA.
Mercia Martial Arts is recognised by the BTC which is the National Governing body for Taekwondo in the UK. All instructors carry enhanced DBS, insurance and first aid as well as relevant coaching qualifications. We also have extensive knowledge of working with SEN schools and supporting students with emotional and behavioural difficulties having worked with the likes of St Andrews, Ivy House, da Vinci and Stanton Vale Schools.
The club runs kayak sessions at Queen's Leisure Centre through the winter. Starting in October and running up until Easter.
Non members are welcome to come for a 1h taster session, and then up to 3 additional guest sessions of 30min. Space is limited so online bookings from week to week can be made to ensure a place.
Cycle Derby runs free lessons (Bikeability) for school children in Derby aged 9 to 14 years old. Children can learn the basics of Montain Biking, BMX and Cycle-X. Adults can also learn to ride or improve cycling skills, technique and confidence at a time and location suitable for you.
For on and off-road riders of all ages.
If your child loves to ride their bike, then please bring them, their bike and helmet to a Cycle Derby Cycling Club, cyclocross taster session.
Stay on the Ball Coaching Futsal Club runs weekly sessions for children aged 7 to 12.
All sessions are designed and delivered by head coach Dean Roome a qualified UEFA B licensed football coach and FA licensed Futsal coach.
Futsal is a great way to enhance a players technical ability and encourages players to be creative and exciting on the ball, Futsal has been a huge help in some of the world’s greatest ever players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Ronaldinho.

The sport is targeted at men who are over 50 and would like to get back into exercise but are unable to play its speedier cousin.

The Pride Park SSE Wildcats Girls’ Football Centre provides Girls aged 5-11 years with regular opportunities to play football. The initiative offers organised sessions in a fun and engaging environment created exclusively for Girls and delivered by FA qualified coaches.
Back to Netball sessions are running across England and provide women aged 16 and over with a gentle re-introduction to the sport.
Walking Netball is a slower version of the game - it is netball, but at a walking pace. The game has been designed so that anyone can play it regardless of age or fitness level.
From those who have dropped out of the sport they love due to serious injury, to those who believed they had hung up their netball trainers many years ago, it really is designed for everyone.

If you're looking to learn to scuba dive in a safe and friendly environment, Derby British Sub-Aqua Club have enjoyable, structured learning programmes with qualified instructors in small groups or on a one-to-one basis, leading to internationally recognised qualifications.
Training is on Thursday evening.
Swim Derby offer swimming lessons for people of all ages and abilities.
City of Derby caters for swimmers up to 18 years old who wish to develop and improve their performance through structured coaching in a competitive yet friendly environment. The club trains on most days, contact the club directly for details.
Derby Phoenix Swimming Club is a competitive organisation, which aims to train young swimmers to attain a high standard of competitive achievement and at the same time enjoy themselves.
Junior Table Tennis sessions at Derby Arena are suitable for under 18s of all abilities, at a cost of £2 per player for each session. We provide tables, bats if required, and adult supervision. We aim to offer a mixture of coaching and competition.
The sessions are run under the auspices of the Derby & District Table Tennis Association and Table Tennis England.
