Mon 29 Jul 2019
A long summer holidays lie ahead, and In Derby have got the solution for fending off whines of “I’m bored” and “there’s nothing to do”. No kids will go bored this summer with a host of fun indoor and outdoor activities across Derby’s leisure centres, parks, and libraries.
Parents can make the most of the summer sun whilst keeping the kids healthy and active at Markeaton Park Sports Pavilion. There’s plenty of fun for the whole family with tennis courts, pitch and putt golf, cricket, footgolf and the all new disc golf.
Cool off indoors with plenty of splashing activities at Queen’s Leisure Centre. Kids will have a whale of a time at the under 8s inflata splash with the new inflatable lobster, or taking on the new float run splash challenge. Outrageous thrill seeking fun awaits on the giant inflatable assault course with Atlantis Splash Run. If a challenge isn’t on the cards then the Family Splash session is the perfect way for the whole family to make the most of the pool, with floats and pool toys. A family of four can swim for just £9.50 during the holidays, saving up to £6.80. Find out more here.
Whether looking for a day out for the kids or a whole week of childcare, our multi-sport activity camps guarantee a fun-filled time for all children. At Moorways Stadium children aged 8 to 14 can enjoy fun and action packed sessions on a variety of sports including athletics, football, handball, dodgeball, orienteering and touch rugby. Derby County Community Trust are offering the opportunity to attend fun, educational and accessible indoor multi-activity camps at Derby Arena. Derby Arena will keep the whole family entertained this summer with an array of activities suitable for the whole spectrum of ages. Children from 2 to 4 year olds can have fun on two wheels with balance bikes, their first time on the bike or skills and games for those who have prior experience. For those 9 years and over, the whole family can try track cycling with Derby Arena’s Family Track Cycling sessions. Anyone aged 12 and upwards who is new to cycling, looking to gain more confidence on the road or just after a social ride will enjoy led rides for the family this summer. For those looking to get to know a bit more about bikes, the new Mechanics Course at Derby Arena will be the perfect chance to brush up on bike maintenance.
Springwood Leisure Centre will keep kids from 0 to 12 entertained throughout the holidays. Kids aged 7 to 12 can duck, dodge and dive their way through a fast and fun game of Dodgeball in August. Mini Ninjas can complete the fun and challenging obstacle course with the Ninja Warrior Circuit sessions.
