Move More Derby helps develop Move More trails across five parks within Derby City!
Wed 31 Jul 2019
The Move More trails have been developed alongside the Move More Derby strategy, providing ‘an active city for all, improving our health, wellbeing and quality of life by supporting people to move more in Derby’. The first five trails were funded by Derby City Council and developed in conjunction with Peak Running, partial funding was provided by the heritage lottery fund allowing for a stand out sculpture, designed and made by Andrew McCallum at Hammer Head Forge, at the largest route in Markeaton Park.
These trails can be found at Allestree, Alvaston, Darley, Markeaton and Sinfin Moor parks. They are for anybody to get out and enjoy the parks in any way they see fit and provide a platform for citizens and visitors to explore our green open spaces. Details of the routes and trails can be found at the start point at each park and will soon be available in e-format. September will see the official launch of the trails throughout the city with seven events, details of these can be found on the InDerby website, and going forward local communities will be encouraged to use and care for the trails in any way they would like with further events and challenges expected.
"Throughout 2019 Derby City Council in partnership with Peak Running have developed a number of marked out trails across five parks within Derby City. These parks include Alvaston, Allestree, Darley, Markeaton and Sinfin. Designed to assist in your exploration and discovery of each park you may find places you didn’t know existed.” Jono Hornblow, Move More Mentor
“These trails provide an opportunity for the people of Derby to engage in and explore some of its great outdoor spaces. With a variety of lengths, routes and scope for challenge, these complimentary trails can be used all year round, creating another positive avenue for people to get out and get active.” Katy West, Move More Co-ordinator
