Czech Cycling Federation inspired by Derby Arena visit

The Czech Cycling Federation came to visit Derby Arena in November. The federation wanted to specifically look at Derby Arena due to the way the venue is utilised as a multi-use facility. The Czech Cycling Federation are looking into the possibility of building a velodrome in the Czechia capitol city, Prague, and see Derby Arena as the ideal venue to base their proposal on, so they wanted to see for itself how the venue looks and operates.

The Czech Cycling Federation an independent non-political organization, and it develops its activities in accordance with the legal regulations of the Czech Republic, these statutes, in the spirit of democratic principles and principles to ensure the all-round development of cycling in all its forms, organisational and performance levels.

Daniel Burton, Derby Arena Manager, said:

It was a pleasure to host the Czech Cycling Federation and show them our great facility. We look forward to hopefully seeing a velodrome in Prague which would grow the sport of track cycling in Europe, and we will support them in any way we can.

Mrs. Jaroslava Krakovicova, The General Secretary of Czech Cycling Federation, said:

When we saw whole building we were out of words for a moment. I have seen velodromes around the world, but Derby arena is definitely in the TOP 10. This arena is a perfect example of how to make a modern, multifunctional facility, which can be used by hundreds of athletes and visitors every day, which creates a unique atmosphere.

I would like to thank Dan Barton, who gave us a perfect tour of the arena and replied to all our questions. Big thanks also go to Manus Twomey, the representative of British Cycling, who made this visit possible and spent all day with us. I want to wish Derby Arena many more successful years with lot of great events.
