Derby Arena rider Katie Toft has achieved huge success at the UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships winning both a gold and silver medal in her debut championships.

Katie claimed her victory in the C1 3000m Individual Pursuit, beating Jieli Li of China in a time of 4:41.945 to win gold. This title win came in Katie’s debut race at the World Para-cycling track championships and was closely followed by a silver medal in the C1 500m time trial.

Katie’s second race at the championships, the 500m time trial, saw her claim her second medal of the week in as many days. Katie attributes her success on the track to the training she has received from Derby Arena, saying that she would not have got to this point without being able to train at Derby.

Katie said of her training: “When I first started training at Derby Arena I used to hope for the best, now I’m pushing to the limit, getting faster and more confident all the time. Without the support of a number of coaches I would not have this opportunity.”

Derby Arena welcomes riders of all abilities, from beginners to world champions like Katie. Whatever your ages, abilities and interests you can find out more about riding at Derby Arena here.
