Q&A with our Group Exercise Instructor Jo Moody

1. What motivates you to keep moving during lockdown?

I am sat at my desk nearly all day so knowing that I have a class to teach gives me the opportunity to also exercise myself. Knowing that there are many others like me in this situation is what motivates me to plan, practice and pull my classes together. As I teach dance, there is quite a lot of preparation which means I have to keep moving at home. 

2. What’s your favourite exercise?

Dancing of course but I love burpees.

3. What’s exercise don’t you like, but do as they know the benefit?

I do not like running but I also understand the overall benefits of doing the occasional jog. I hate the treadmill. For those that know me well, know I can’t sit still for 5 minutes and so the thought of running on a treadmill but not going anywhere, would be mind-blowing. I’ll stick to my dancing.

4. What advice would you give for people at home trying to keep active?

Aim to exercise every day, even if just a 30-minute walk as it does not have to be strenuous. Set yourself realistic goals which can be achievable but also allows you to push yourself.  Think about the best time of day to keep active. For some, early morning activities work best around children and home working arrangements. My personal aim is to come out of lockdown fitter and stronger than before which simply means maintain activity levels.

Butterfly Chicken Curry with Rice and Naan Bread – naughty but nice.

7. Do you have any pets?

Oh yes and I imagine that all my followers have seen Stan the dog. We are actually referred to as ‘Jo and Stan’ when members say hello to me on the FB page.
