Springwood gym to be relocated during essential maintenance work

Thu 14 Oct 2021

The gym equipment at Springwood Leisure Centre will be temporarily relocated to the main hall from Thursday 4 November, whilst essential maintenance works are carried out to repair the flooring and install an air conditioning system in the gym. It is anticipated this maintenance work will be completed in mid-February 2022.

Although two courts will be in use for the gym relocation, the sports hall activities will continue on the other half, but there will be reduced court allocation for badminton and table tennis, so we advise booking in advance.

To accommodate this move the current gym facility will close on Sunday 31st October at 9pm, reopening in the main hall on Thursday 4 November at 6.30am. The group exercise timetable from Springwood will operate as normal for this period. As a Derby Active gym user, you can access the gym facilitates at Derby Arena during this closure period.

See the diagram below which shows the intended gym layout in the sports hall.

The temporary gym will have all of the cardio, resistance and free weights equipment that is currently set up. However, there will be limitations on the dumbbells over 30kg and barbell exercises that are performed from the floor. As these exercises will not be permitted, our Health and Wellbeing team will be on hand to show alternative exercises should this affect your workouts.

The Derby Active team would like to thank you for your anticipated understanding and patience over this period.
