Top cyclists to compete at Derby Arena
Mon 10 Apr 2017
Derby Arena will host its second Grand Prix competition on Saturday 26 August 2017. It follows Derby Arena’s first open event last year which attracted national standard riders and world champions to race.
This year’s Derby Arena Grand Prix is expected to be another afternoon of unmissable open racing. The thrill of the track will be on full display with a party atmosphere and music that crowds will love. With dedicated commentators you won't miss a moment of the action!
National-standard athletes will compete in a range of events including a scratch, points, elimination and a 10 mile Grand Prix final. For the sprint fans there will be the Keirin event where sprinters start behind the derny bike before a flat out sprint that is likely to see speeds of 70 km/h. The Madison race that was popularised by Mark Cavendish MBE and Sir Bradley Wiggins CBE, will also be held with pairs hand slinging each other into the fast paced racing and multiple sprints.
Derby Arena Grand Prix will take place on Saturday 26 August, tickets cost £10 with concessions and family tickets also available.
