About the event
Derby Libraries Code Club is moving online. Learn the basics of computer programming using Scratch and create simple computer games and animations.
Learn the basics of computer programming using Scratch, including how to create simple computer games and animations.
Code Club Online is organised by Derby Libraries and delivered by trained and knowledgeable library staff. Each Club runs as a structured course lasting for 20 weeks. Children learn the basics of computer programming using Scratch, including how to create simple computer games and animations.
The Club is delivered online through the Scratch website. Each week you will be sent an email with a coding project for your child to complete. Your child will need to set up a Scratch account so that their projects can be uploaded onto our Classroom.
Children taking part must be aged from 8 to 13 years old at the start of the course and must be a member of Derby Libraries.
The start date is Monday 14 December 2020. The first project will be emailed to everyone on that date. Then the first club session will be on Saturday 19 December where staff will be online to help anyone as needed.
The second project will then be emailed on Monday 21 December and the club session will be on the following Saturday 26 December.
So projects will be emailed on Mondays and Code Club online sessions will be on Saturdays. We hope to see you there!
Please note there will be no Code Club on Saturday 26 December 2020 or Saturday 3 April 2021. Everyone will receive a project on Monday 21 December and Mon 29 March as usual - but will have 2 weeks to complete.
