Access to research

The Access to Research initiative gives public access to articles on health, biological research, engineering and social sciences.

The articles are from over 8000 academic and professional journals from all over the world. Library customers can view, free of charge, the full text of most of these articles from high level, peer reviewed journals.

How can I get access to these articles?

The journal articles are available on all the public computers in libraries in Derby. If you are currently logged on to a public computer you can search for the full text of journals articles.

If you are looking at this information from your home or work computer, you can search Access to Research to see what journals are available and then get the full text of the journal articles by logging on to a public computer in any Derby library.

If you are a library member, you can book a library computer in advance by calling your local Derby Library. All you need is your borrower number which is on your library card.

Why should I use a library computer to access the journals?

The licence agreement which Derby City Libraries have signed restricts access to public computers in its libraries. This is the same for all participating public library authorities in the country.
