Derby’s ten community libraries are under the management of Derby City Council.

Opening times for all libraries 

Derby City Council is exploring new community models as it looks to future-proof library provision in the city.

In August 2023, new options for delivering library services were recommended to Cabinet and a plan for community library provision to be run by a Trust has now been approved.

A process to identify viable proposals from interested Trusts or organisations who want to run services opened on Mon 18 Mar.

A chance to volunteer

There’s always room in Derby’s libraries for willing volunteers. If you would like to volunteer in our community libraries, we’d love to hear from you.

You need to be over 16 and able to commit to regular volunteering, but the hours and pattern can be flexible to fit in with your commitments.
