A new opportunity for you and your library

Ten Derby libraries will become community managed by the end of the year as part of the Council’s plans to keep them safe from closure.

Direct Help and Advice (DHA) will be responsible for running all ten libraries in partnership with Community Action Derby and Citizens Advice South Derbyshire and City.

You can expect the same service you’re used to, such as book loans and access to computers, but the local charity will also provide vital services right in the hub of your community. This includes legal advice on housing as well as support on benefits and managing debt.

Derby's Community Managed Libraries

The council will no longer run the following ten libraries once they have been handed over to DHA:

  • Allenton Library
  • Allestree Library
  • Blagreaves Library
  • The Philip Whitehead Memorial Library at Chaddesden Park
  • Chellaston Library, Derwent Library
  • Mackworth Library
  • Sinfin Library
  • Spondon Library
  • Springwood Library
This page will be updated with further information once each library has closed ahead of opening as a Community Managed Library.

Sinfin Library

Management of Sinfin Library has now been handed over to Direct Help and Advice. The library closed Friday 4 May in order for work to be carried out ahead of reopening Monday 14 May

Opening times will be between 10am and 4pm on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Please keep checking this page for any potential changes to this.
