Local historian and archaeologist John will introduce Aethelflaed; daughter of King Alfred and also known as ‘Lady of the Mercians’. In the ten years before her death Aethelflaed and her brother reclaimed most of Mercia from the Danes. Using archaeological and historical sources John will reveal the role of this remarkable female leader.
