Derby County legend Martyn Waghorn to join families for Give It A Go day at Alvaston Park

Derby will get the chance to try their hand at a huge range of free sports and activities when the new Give It A Go event comes to Alvaston Park on Sat 25 Jul, running from 11am to 3pm.

The free, family-friendly event gives visitors the opportunity to have a go at a wide variety of activities taking place across the park, including Boccia, Tai Chi, Bollywood Dancing, netball, basketball and much more. This year's event will put a special spotlight on the park's new PlayZone facilities, alongside tennis and the many other sports groups and clubs based at Alvaston Park.

Adding extra star quality to the day, former Derby County player Martyn Waghorn will be joining the event for a meet and greet session, giving fans of all ages the chance to meet him in person.

Give It A Go is a fantastic opportunity for people of all ages to discover new activities, meet local sports clubs and enjoy everything that Alvaston Park has to offer. Whether you're looking to try something new, get active with the family or simply enjoy a great day out, there's something for everyone. We're also delighted to welcome Martyn Waghorn to this year's event, which promises to make the day even more memorable for visitors.

The full timetable of activities for the day is below:

Martyn Waghorn (near Playzone):

11am-1pm: Meet and greet

Playzone Tarmacadam:

11am: Sen Fit Fiona-Body weight circuit Class (Adults & Children)

12noon: Netball

1pm: Basketball

2pm: Angela-Qi gong/ Tai Chi

Playzone 3G Pitch:

11am: Football foundation football training and kick about

12noon: Bollywood dancing

1pm: Kilburn Football club girls football training (4-16 years)

2pm: Kilburn football club, female football training 16+

Grass Area (near Playzone):

11am: Yoga (13years+)

1pm: Pilates (16years+)

Grass Area (field near the school):

12noon: Football foundation

Ball court (near outdoor Gym):

11am: Netball

12noon: Basketball

1pm: Boccia

2-3pm: Netball/ Basketball

Gym:

11.30am-1.30pm: Rebecca Gibson Carter, personal trainer mini gym sessions

Meet at Building main doors:

11.30am, 12.30pm, 2pm: science walks and science busking, Beyond the pencil, APF.

Community Room:

11am-3pm: Earl of Harrington, model boat club, APF, Information on clubs and activities.
