A new unit will be opening at Markeaton Park Craft Village this December.

Opening on Saturday 1 December, Susan Hill Jewellery will be open for the first weekend of Family Festivities!

Adding to the diverse and creative range of activities on offer the unit will open in time for Markeaton Park’s most festive time of year.

On Saturday 1 December and Sunday 2 December the first weekend of Family Festivities will be Craft Fair Weekend. The craft village will be open with plenty of shops and stalls filled with handmade and unique gifts. For the first time this will include Susan Hill Jewellery, a private studio offering handmade jewellery and workshops. Anyone looking for individually designed and handcrafted pieces to gift to their loved ones will have the chance to browse sterling silver and gold jewellery, made with great care and attention to detail.

Owner Susan Hill uses traditional silversmithing techniques to create a range of unique jewellery. Contrasting textures and finishes of sterling silver and gold are combined to create a stunning contemporary look and feel to each piece.

Speaking on her new location Susan said, “I have been making and selling my individually designed and handmade sterling silver jewellery for a number of years, and for the past few years I have been able to share my enthusiasm and passion by running my very popular jewellery and silversmithing workshops.

I am very excited about the next step of my journey and my move to Markeaton Park Craft Village, to be in such a fantastic studio amongst other creative businesses in the beautiful setting of the courtyard will be perfect for my business.”

There are also a number of jewellery and silversmithing workshops available. Courses can be booked for a full day, half day, evening or individual classes. Each course has a maximum of six places, ensuring everyone gets the individual attention they need to get the most out of these exciting hands-on workshops.

Councillor Alan Grimadell, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Culture and Tourism, said: “Markeaton Park Craft Village is home to a number of businesses offering a diverse range of craft activities, workshops and handmade goods. The opening of a new craft unit marks the continuing growth of this thriving creative community. Markeaton Park is a huge draw for Derby, and it continues to be one of Derby’s much-loved parks.”
