As the sun finally comes out again it’s time to look outdoors and look forward to a summer spent with the family, out in the sunshine. Here are our top 10 things to do outdoors as a family this summer:
1. Mundy Play Centre
When the sun is shining Mundy Play Centre is the place to be, whether cooling off in the paddling pool, commanding the ship on the Adventure Galley Pirate ship, or taking part in the pay and play activities there’ll be plenty of fun there for the whole family!
2. Multi-Sports Camps
At Springwood Leisure Centre, and Moorways Stadium this summer kids can get outside and take part in multi-sports activity camps. There are plenty of sports on offer, from Cricket, Archery and Frisbee to football, orienteering and touch rugby.
Markeaton Sports Pavilion is the perfect place to get out and get active as a family. Markeaton Park’s new artificial cricket wicket allows for cricket in all weather, which means the whole family can get out for a game any time throughout the summer!
4. Mini Golf
Families will have plenty of fun on the brand new Mini Golf course at Markeaton Park. This new course can be played as two separate 9 hole courses or one 18 hole course. Featuring the usual challenging features such as ramps, bends, slopes, this course will be the perfect fun activity for all the family!
Markeaton Sports Pavilion also offers Footgolf, the alternative version of golf that replaces a golf ball with a football and the club with a foot. Any family will enjoy this new sport on the 9 hole course at Markeaton Park.
6. Superhero Picnic in the Park
This award-winning superhero event in Derby Parks is a fantastic way to get outdoors as a family for a great day out! These three free events at Markeaton Park, Chaddesden Park and Darley Park will be taking place on 30 July, 31 July and 1 August.
7. Skyline at Markeaton High Ropes
An adventure like no other, the newly improved Skyline at Markeaton high ropes adventure will challenge and entertain the whole family. Participants will be challenged to push themselves to the limits with a leap of faith, a zip line, and various obstacles, platforms, tunnels and climbing ropes.
8. Here be Dragons!
Let Babbling Vagabonds take the family on a wild adventure into the unknown with Here Be Dragons! Families will discover the wonderfully weird and woolly, the slimiest and smelliest, and those shy secretive monsters that slither and wobble about in our wonderful world as the join the ‘Monster Menders’ at Markeaton Park.
As Wimbledon kicks off families are certain to want to get out and play a spot of tennis. Tennis courts at Markeaton Park are available throughout the summer holidays, with occasional free sessions available throughout the week.
10.The Hannells Darley Park Concert
End the summer in the stunning Darley Park with The Hannells Darley Park Concert. Everybody’s favourite outdoor concert, with fireworks, food and lovely music, this is the perfect way to end the summer outdoors!
