Now’s the perfect time to get active

With the summer holidays over, the kids back at school and evenings drawing in, seasonal change is upon Derby!

With that in mind, Derby Active has launched an offer to make the transition to autumn easier whilst keeping the people of Derby moving. If you join as a health and fitness member this September you’ll pay just £1 to do so with their aptly titled ‘join for a coin’ offer.

With gym, swim and over 100 classes to choose from, there’s something to do at Derby Arena, Springwood and Queen’s, whatever the weather might be doing outside.

If you’re a seasoned gym-goer or completely new to it, a gym membership includes a free 12 week personalised programme to get you on the way to achieving your goals. Their qualified health and wellbeing advisors are used to working with people with all sorts of fitness goals and activity levels, priding themselves on having the expertise to help all of their members achieve.

For those who want to get more active outside of the gym, don’t forget all of Derby’s open parks there are to conquer. Derby City Council’s Move More have launched their ‘Move More Trails’ this September. Developed in conjunction with Peak Running, the trails can be found in Allestree, Alvaston, Darley, Markeaton and Sinfin Moor Parks. To celebrate the launch, throughout September they’re hosting a varied range of events such as ‘Walk ‘n’ Talk’ to an event dedicated to celebrating 10 years of Jog Derbyshire.

Katy West a Move More Co-ordinator explains:

“These trails provide an opportunity for the people of Derby to engage in and explore some of its great outdoor spaces. With a variety of lengths, routes and scope for challenge, these complimentary trails can be used all year round, creating another positive avenue for people to get out and get active.”

So how will you choose to get active this autumn, in the gym, pool or class or on the park?
