Park walks and gardens

Markeaton Park

Our parks have a variety of different walks and gardens for you to enjoy.

Across our parks there are a number of surfaced paths taking you to the main areas, with seating available to take in the views and relax in the open air.

Why not venture off the beaten track and explore the parks. Need some inspiration for park walks? Take a look at the attached guides and explore our parks further.

Gardens

For quiet and relaxation visit one of the many gardens at Markeaton Park, from the intimate Rose Garden to a gentle stroll around the 18th Century and 19th century Pleasure Gardens with many fine specimen trees.

Have a look at the Walled Garden, once part of the original kitchen gardens for the Hall.

Walking for health

Walk Well runs short, free health walks in Derby that are suitable for people of all ages, including children (under 16s must be accompanied by an adult).  The walks take in local parks, countryside and residential areas of Derby.

You don’t need to book for these and can simply turn up, although please arrive before the walk start time so we don’t go without you!  You are advised to dress suitably for the weather conditions, wear comfortable, supportive footwear and bring a drink.
