Don’t let the cold slow you down this winter
Fri 10 Dec 2021
We all know its difficult to stay motivated and exercise over the festive period. Whether it’s due to the weather being too cold, the evenings being too dark or eating too many mince pies, there’s always an excuse to get out of being active.
To help you keep active this winter, we’ve made a list (and checked it twice) of what you can do to avoid losing your motivation.
Let an advisor get you moving
If you know that you can’t push yourself to get going, why not have one of our Health and Wellbeing advisors to do it! Our advisors will chat to you about what your goals, outcomes, available equipment are as well as conduct a health review. From this, our team member will set targets and goals, that are achievable for you.
There will then be further sessions, where our Health and Wellbeing Advisor will offer training support, inspiration, and advice. Each session will be tailored to you and what you want to work on. This can include anything from workouts and nutrition advice to postural exercises and more. Our Health and Wellbeing Advisors are also able to provide virtual sessions, using Microsoft Teams.
Ask Father Christmas for a Gym Membership
It might be cold, wet, and miserable outside but our gyms aren’t! You may not be up for going for a run or cycle around your local park in the rain so why not bring it inside? With a huge range of equipment, classes, and multiple gym locations, we have something to suit everybody. We also have a variety of memberships to fit whatever you are looking for.
Work off the roast dinner on the cycling track
The cycling track at Derby Arena is the perfect location to take your bike for a spin. Whether you just want to drop in for an hour or really push yourself with one of our sessions, there are plenty of opportunities for both! Our friendly trainers and supervisors will help get you motivated to start peddling through the festive period.
Take some time out for yourself
Maybe this year, all you want for Christmas is some time to yourself. Whilst we love family and friends, its good to give yourself a bit of time to do something you love. We have yoga, pilates, Aqua fit and plenty of other classes that can give you that bit of time to do something you love. If classes aren’t really your idea of relaxing, but floating in a pool is, have a look at our swimming timetable to see what’s on at our swimming pools.
No matter what you choose to take part in this Christmas, we hope to see you in one of our Derby Active centres soon. Have a fantastic Christmas!
