We have a number of sites that are used for grass football. We have developed our sites for outdoor sport and the most recent developments are the Racecourse and Alvaston Park. Having received funding from the Football Foundation, we are committed to developing these sites and football across the city.
We operate a 'open' football season from September to April each year to support and develop football grass participation. The FA affiliated leagues have priority for league fixtures and cup games through this period.

Which venues can I book for football?
We will operate 6 HUB football sites for the 2022/23 football season – Racecourse, Alvaston Park, Chaddesden Park, Darley Playing Fields, Sinfin Moor Park and Moorways Stadium.
Chellaston Leisure Limited will operate Chellaston Park and all enquiries to use this site should be sent directly to firstname.lastname@example.org
How do I book for the 'open' football season?
When the application process is open for the 2022/23 season, the online form will be available here.
It is likely, subject to the final approval process, that a significant project to enhance and refurbish football facilities at the Racecourse will commence at the end of March 2023. This will prevent the use of the southern part of the site for football and could affect other fixtures on the rest of the site after the end of March 2023. We will be trying to plan the project wherever possible to minimise disruption and also trying where possible to find alternative locations for any displaced football fixtures. However, it is inevitable there will be some short term disruption to achieve the long term goal of superb new facilities on the site and as a result, we cannot guarantee availability on this site after the end of March.
Please contact email@example.com if you have any queries.
How do I book pre-season and casual games (Summer availability)?
We are offering some pitches for casual and pre-season grass pitches at Alvaston from 2 Jul to 21 Aug 2022.
These can be booked up to 14 days in advance using the Derby Active Online booking system.
If you are new to booking online, you will first need to email to request a Casual Membership Form.
How do I book an astroturf pitch on a regular basis for my team?
Teams can book a regular astroturf pitch at Springwood Leisure Centre, Moorways Athletics Stadium or The Race Course. Please complete our online football block booking application form.
How much does it cost to book a pitch?
For prices visit the Parks prices page.
How do I pay for a booking?
